Caribbean 600

Bad luck for crew member Tristan Jaques was good luck for me as a broken arm meant I got a last minute call up to race on the Class 40 Concise in the RORC Caribbean 600 starting from Antigua. Whilst taking me away from the only two week break from Figaro school in two months it was an opportunity I couldn’t say no to. The 600 is a truly glamorous race and the class 40 is the perfect boat for it. What’s more I have looked in at the Concise program for the last few years from the outside with envy as owner Tony Lawson runs things in a similar way to the Artemis Academy. Giving a bunch of promising top young dinghy sailors the chance to race an awesome boat in some of the worlds best offshore races.

After one day of training on the boat I am well psyched up for the start on Monday. It’s obvious the guys have done their preparation and every aspect of the campaign is totally sorted.

You can follow the race here http://caribbean600.rorc.org/

And find out more about the boat and read or blogs here. http://www.teamconcise.com/class-40

Top work on the last race cherry drop – and great news on the C 600. Mongoose went out for the first time with her semi by the sea this weekend. Sails look fast.
