What better way to relax on a Sunday evening that heading out in the English Channel with a good friend to enjoy the tail end of a hurricane right on the nose in a 33ft boat? Unfortunately for me and Ed Hill we have to be in Peros Guirec by 0115 on Tuesday morning in order to make the lock gate in time for measurement on Wednesday morning. For both of us the Tour de Bretagne will be our first official Figaro race and by all accounts it will be a tough one.
Going up against 21 other teams, most of whom will know this razor sharp coastline like the back of their hands, we will complete four coastal races around Brittany as well as two days of inshore racing. Our expectations are realistic, we would be happy to be stay in touch with the main group, ensuring as much as anything that we have some locals to follow through the appropriate gaps in the rocks!
The event website here will be updated with results once things kick off next Saturday evening. Until then we hope the delivery goes smoothly and will bring more updates once we get there.
